Advancing Global Frontiers in Mathematics Education, Technology, and Policy.

The ACT Institute Global Research Fellowship Programme is a competitive, interdisciplinary fellowship designed for early- to mid-career scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and practitioners working at the intersection of mathematics education, educational technology, and policy research. Based in Africa and globally oriented, the fellowship offers a unique platform for world-class researchers to conduct high-impact studies, contribute to educational transformation, and engage directly with ministries, schools, and edtech innovators across the continent.

Programme Objectives :

Advance rigorous, interdisciplinary research in mathematics education and technology.
Generate policy-relevant evidence to inform systemic change in African education.
Facilitate global knowledge exchange and South-North academic collaboration.
Mentor emerging scholars and build lasting research networks across continents.

Fellowship Requirements Eligibility:

Masters/PhD (completed within the last 7 years) in Mathematics Education, STEM Education, Educational Technology, Public Policy, or related fields.
Proven research record (peer-reviewed publications, policy papers, or edtech development).
Demonstrated interest or prior work in education systems in low- and middle-income countries is a plus.
Proficiency in English (French or Portuguese also advantageous for regional engagement).

Commitment :

6–12 months residency at the ACT Institute (on-site in Ghana or hybrid arrangement).
Minimum of 2 peer-reviewed research outputs and 1 policy brief or toolkit.
Participation in IMETPR events, workshops, and policy dialogues.
Optional mentoring of graduate researchers or co-teaching engagements.

Funded Fellowships

Sponsored by IMETPR and partners (limited number annually).

Self-Funded or Institution-Sponsored

Encouraged with support from home institutions or research councils.
